The Corn Refiners association is not liking what is being said about HFCS and how it is being considered to be largely responsible for the growing diabetic and weight epidemic of today.
So in order to steer us off the track of truth, they launched their own website and are spending $20 to $30 million dollars in order to rehabilitate HFCS reputation.
However, no matter how much hype to the contrary, scientists have link HFCS to the rampant epidemics of obesity, diabetes and metabolic disorder, and people are listening.
Consumers are knowledgeable and usage is declining. Companies are Desperate.
Although the trend is declining, an average intake of 40 pounds of HFCS per person, per year, is still far too much, if you want to obtain or maintain optimal health that is.
Did you know that HFCS is the number one source of calories in U.S.?
Try this on for size. In our diets, we get about 250 percent more calories than sugar. Doesn’t sound too good does it? But what’s worse is that most of the calories are from HFCS in the form of soft drinks.
The good news about this shocking fact is that stopping this habit is one of the easiest things we can do. You can radically improve your health just by cutting out soda.
You could actually be improving your health so much to avoid having diseases such as:
- Cancer
- Heart disease
- Diabetes
- Premature aging
- Arthritis
- Osteoporosis
And that’s just naming a few.
But, you say, HFCS is sugar after all even if it does come from corn.
HFCS does not metabolize in the same way as sugar.
What makes HFCS such an unhealthy product is that it is metabolized to fat in your body far more rapidly than any other sugar and is magnified because it affects your metabolism negatively.
Whereas the glucose in other sugars is used by your body, and is converted to blood glucose, fructose is a relatively unregulated source of fuel that your liver converts to fat and cholesterol.
HFCS are also known to raise your bad cholesterol.
New research is also showing HFCS contribution to diabetes.
It also depletes your body of enzymes, vitamins or minerals.
Horrors to top it all!!! Most HFCS are made from genetically modified corn.
It’s like getting slapped in the face. GMO corn can greatly increase your risk to developing corn food allergies which can make you allergic to even organic corn products.
So what to do?
Avoid sodas especially and processed foods and juices. And become a really good reader of labels.
Improving your health can be done in small steps and cleansing your body first of these toxins will certainly be a giant step in the right direction.
But you want to sweeten your food, then use the herb stevia and stay safe.
