Statin drugs are used to lower cholesterol levels and are the most commonly prescribed medications in the world.

But are they really all they are made out to be?

The list of studies documenting their dangers to your health seems to belie their worth.

We all need to educate ourselves where cholesterol is concerned.  Unless your cholesterol is above 325, then statin drugs will likely do more harm than good.

What are Statin drug side-effects?

  • muscle pain and weakness for one

It seems that a cell’s ability to proliferate is reduced by 50% at a dose normally prescribed to patients.

This could clearly have a negative effect on your skeletal muscles’ ability to heal and repair themselves, and could lead to eventually becoming more or less incapacitated.

It’s for certain that ignoring symptoms of pain and muscle weaknes while on statin drugs is dangerous.

There are other shocking results these drugs can also cause:

  • a risk of cancer
  • a suppression of the Immune system
  • an increase in liver enzymes which can cause potential  liver problems

Statins do lower cholesterol levels but in no way do they treat the cause.

Both HDL and LDL cholesterol perform vital functions in your body, which is why it’s actually dangerous to bring your LDL levels down too low.

We need cholesterol to make new cells or repair old and damaged ones.

Did your doctor tell you that it’s the size that counts?

By that I mean, it’s the particle size of the cholesterol that matters as it’s the small particles that easily get stuck and cause inflammation, which leads to damage and the buildup of scar tissue, also known as arterial plaque.

Unfortunately, most people don’t hear about that part.

And of course, you won’t hear about this from the drug companies.

Statin drugs do not modulate the size of the particles.

Diet is the only way you can make sure that the particles are large enough to not get stuck.  And that’s one of insulin’s most important roles.

When you eat right, the cholesterol gets delivered to the tissues, the good cholesterol goes to the liver and the bad one just gets eliminated without causing damage.

Just by taking sugar  and most grains out of your diet can do what statin drugs can’t.

The key is nutrition.  Doesn’t it seem that regulating health problems always starts and ends with nutrition?

So if you really want to bring your cholesterol under control, you will need to make changes in your diet by:

  • getting rid of sugar and most grains which will stabilize your insulin
  • making sure to take a quality Omega-3 fatty acid
  • checking your iron levels as excess iron contributes to cancer
  • exercising regularly
  • using other natural alternative supplements formulated to help lower bad cholesterol levels.

Changing your diet is the single most effective method you can use and you’ll be saving money while not buying into the cholesterol hype.
