Another toxic byproduct of manufacturing is now being encouraged by the the U.S. government to be spread on planting fields to loosen and fertilize soil.
Just like the so-called beneficial waste of “fluoride’ issue came about and the subsequent realization that this toxic substance in our water was actually a health hazard, this new push for farmers to add FDG gypsum to soil is a toxic copycat with no good ending.
Storage and disposal of toxic elements has always been expensive and the EPA and USDA’s recommendations to use this byproduct on fields is another wolf in disguise kowtowing to big corporations who donate big money to elect bureaucrats they feel will push their agenda.
Why would we want to add to our toxic overload and that of our future generations?
Adding FGD gypsum to fields in not a new idea since over 78,000 tons have already been spread on fields since 2002.
Association, farmers’ use of the material has more than tripled in the past 6 years, from about 279,000 tons spread on fields in 2008 alone. But what is getting the producers worried, is the fact that production is expected to double in the next few years since more coal-fired plants come online and more scrubbers are added in order to comply with clean air rulings.
Although more than half of this byproduct is used in manufacturing drywall, it is unsettling to learn that it is also used as a filler ingredient in some foods and toothpaste.
No wonder, processed foods are to be avoided.
It always boils down to the money.
What Can You Do? Tell organic growers about this.
Why? Well, it seems this toxic mess is trickling into organic farming since it isn’t considered petroleum base and the farmer can still be categorized as an organic farmer.
It all boils down to education and staying on top of issues such as this one that will keep us from getting more toxic then we already are.
It’s time to come face to face with your food grower. And it’s time to prevent toxic overload by cleansing on a regular basis.
