I was just reading about how there is so much obesity out there. Of course it goes without saying as your own eyes don’t need convincing.

The article was talking about the world’s fattest countries and although Canada fared better than the US on the fat index, we certainly don’t have anything to be proud of.

As a country, Canada ranks 35th as having individuals with a personal body mass index (BMI) greater than 25. The US is much closer to being the winner as it ranks 9th in the world.

Countries that used to be exempt from the fat virus, such as those found in the South Pacific, are now showing dramatic increases with the continued economic development bringing with it processed food diets that are high in sugar and in fat while leaving behind their traditional low-fat diets of local goods.

It goes without saying that developed countries are also fatter than ever too. Ranking 9th or 35th is the World Health Organization’s 2007 report for the US and Canada respectively. At this rate where 74% of Americans are lugging around too much body fat and Canadians at 61%, these numbers must already be way out of date.

We have an epidemic of fat running at our heals and the medical establishment has nothing helpful to contribute except this prescription or that prescription. There is absolutely no emphasis on nutrition and cleansing which are the 2 most important ingredients for a healthier body.

Let’s hope more people will wake up and realize that you have to take the bull by the horns and make fat along with processed foods a thing of the past!
