We are bombarded by advertisements that profess aspirin as the best prevention for everything from heart attacks to colon cancer.
Of course for such statements to be aired publicly, the company must have permission and support of the FDA, even if wrong.
But the truth about aspirin is finally emerging.
17 clinical studies now show without a doubt that taking aspiring actually increases the risk of stroke, heart attack and death that are “aspirin-resistant”.
Now has your doctor screened you for aspirin-resistance before prescribing aspirin? Probably not!
There are many more people who are aspirin-resistant than first thought. It is now understood that men are more likely to be aspirin-resistant and that these individuals are not helped by blood thinning drugs such as Plavix (clopidogrel). These individuals overpower the anti-clotting effects this leads to an increased risk for strokes, heart attacks and death.
Of course you won’t read about such studies in newspapers or hear about it in the news. There is too much at stake and Big Pharma makes sure that such reporting is given minimal exposure.
But educating yourself as to the truth of the matter can open your eyes and lead you to alternative choices that don’t harm you in the long run.
There are safe alternatives to aspirin which are not toxic. One such remedy comes from the pineapple stems and fruit, called bromelain. It is the protein enzyme derived from that fruit. It is a long-time favorite that provided most of the cardiovascular benefits of aspirin without the side effects. It is non-toxic with rarely any allergic reactions.
Just taking 2-4 grams daily divided in 2 to 3 doses between meals can give excellent results. Bromelain is available at any health food store.
More recently, it was found that the flavonols in cocoa can help improve blood flow and the amount needed isn’t very much.
What is this in common language? Chocolate! Yeah!
I’m not advocating that you go out and buy a chocolate bar because those bars contain way too much sugar but you can look for a chocolate product that contains at least 60% cocoa solids and that has been minimally processed in order to keep flavonols high. If the process is “alkali or “Dutch”, much of the flavonol content from the cocoa powder is removed.
You may have a hard time finding chocolate that will meet this requirement, although there is one that over-exceeds all these parameters.
To get back to the aspirin is toxic issue, remember that when you combine the problems associated with aspirin resistance with those of aspirin-induced gastrointestinal bleeding and macular degeneration, that adding aspirin to your daily routine just may not be what the doctor ordered.
