Are Everyday Products Killing You?..
Through my research I do come across some pretty clear evidence that shouts cover up when the choice comes between making money and preserving people’s health.
Usually, the latter loses.
Case in point is the bisphenol (BPA) issue.
Take plastic containers. They are everywhere and most unfortunately have BPA in them and as a good generate at least $6 billion in annual sales. The value of BPA-based manufactured goods is probably incalculable.
What makes BPA so bad is that it mimics the sex hormone estradiol and is a building block for polycarbonate plastics and tough epoxy resins.
It’s not only found in plastic containers but in the lining of canned goods and leaches into the food. This is not just me telling you this but also the Environmental Working Group (EWG) who sampled canned foods and beverages from supermarkets across the U.S.
It is even putting our children’s health at risk as cans of infant formula have been shown to be some of the worst offenders; just one to three servings can contain BPA levels that have caused serious adverse effects in animal tests.
If BPA is so bad for us, why is it allowed?
It’s not difficult to answer as big money talks loudest. Chemical companies are not above using threats and intimidation when their bottom line is at stake. Take for example Monsanto’s seed police who wield a big club and stomp on small farming operations that dare go against their mandates.
Certain organizations have tried to expose these poisons for over 20 years only to be met with the closing of websites and even just recently when it was discovered that vile toxins have been dumped in certain rivers for decades, mum was the word.
So what are the effects on your health?
According to Washington State University reproductive scientist Patricia Hunt, “exposure to low levels of BPA — levels that we think are in the realm of current human exposure — can profoundly affect both developing eggs and sperm.”
But fetuses and infants are not the only ones at risk. Researchers are also finding that BPA exposure can affect adults.
Certain studies have absolutely proven that BPA promotes the development of cells that attack our immune system in adulthood.
Am I ever glad I work at cleansing and replenishing my body with nutrients that promote healing and detoxification!
Don’t hold your breath hoping the FDA will come to our rescue.
True to form, the U.S. FDA decided that BPA is safe and can remain in food packaging, including infant formula containers and baby bottles, despite the more than 100 independent studies linking the chemical to serious disorders in humans, including:
- Prostate cancer
- Breast cancer
- Diabetes
- Early puberty
- Obesity, and
- Learning and behavioral problems
So what can you do to avoid BPA products?
Avoid plastic containers of any type, use glass instead.
Avoid canned goods.
That’s the best advice I can give you for now except to get busy and cleanse, cleanse, cleanse.
