I see people around me dropping like flies from heart attacks, cancers of all kinds and other illnesses which cause pain for years until death finally claims them.
That is not for me! I plan to be responsible for my health and not give that authority to a faceless drug company who has only the dollar as its god.
So let me start with the first of 21 ways I found that I can turn back the calendar and live to a ripe old age. I’m aiming for 120.
In reality, I am basically only half way through my life and have a whole lifetime to live again and I am changing the end results by what I am doing today.
Our body has an extraordinary capacity to take care of itself if you treat it right. There are tips that I can give you to do this and they may be obvious to most but they are none the less among the most important.
“Don’t eat this!” “Eat this!” “Watch your cholesterol!” “Lower you fat intake!” are all phrases we hear constantly which threaten us with death if we don’t obey. And yes, I’m getting deaf to those pleas too.
But really, in all honesty, they do make sense. It might have taken mainstream medicine a long time to grasp the fact that what we eat is central to how we feel, but we are now living proof that these warnings are real.
Let me surprise you by telling you that what I recommend you eat is simple and obvious. If you look back at what the traditional diet of the human omnivore used to be, here was a creature that ate all the foods that are naturally found on this planet.
Notice that I said “naturally“. So to that end, eating some of all that nature has to offer is not wrong and even recommended.
Is a candy bar natural? Is your box of corn flakes natural? Is your potato chip natural? and on and on. Of course not. We both know that refined, processed, adulterated or contaminated foods are bad for your body.
Listening unquestioningly to whatever school of dietary thought that is dominant at the moment is not the way to go. Listen to your body! There is always a new theory coming out about different ways to eat.
Before listening to anything, find out about it first. Don’t just go head first into a new eating program without knowing what you are getting into.
There is no evidence that one diet fits all and if you think about it, you’ll see the truth in that statement.
Look at the variations. Some people are very sensitive to saturated fat and have less risk of heart disease when they follow a diet low in fat and high in fiber and complex carbs. Other people, most of us that is, tolerate high carb diets badly.
Without going into all the details, it really is up to you to find out what makes you feel good. Keep in mind that whatever diet you try, there is no evidence that processed, packaged foods are good for anyone. They may be time saving but that’s all.
By finding the diet that’s right for you, you will have taken the most important step toward living in good health until you’re 100 or should I say 120.
So number one of my 21 ways is basically to treat your body to the best that nature has to provide and keep it as close to nature as possible.
